Explore wood finishes and deepen your understanding of the visual effects sanding, coloring, and sealing has on wood. Investigate how various surface finishes affect the look and feel of a finished object. Students will work with oil, shellac, and polyurethane as well as stain and dye application on wood samples. Safe finishing approaches will be emphasized. Students will create small samples of finishes on wood for future reference.

Please note: No experience required. Assigned project materials and supplies included. Additional materials/supplies can be purchased in class. Natural fiber clothing, long pants, and closed-toe shoes are required while working at CIADC.
