The city of Chicago will be investing in public art in all 50 wards in 2017, with a public call for artists now available: 50 x 50 Neighborhood Arts Projects.
This is a great opportunity for industrials artists and sculptors to leave their mark on the city – deadline for initial applications is February 24, 2017 – apply and create new works at CIADC!
If you have not done so already, make time this summer to go check out the 15th Annual Chicago Sculpture Exhibit based in Lincoln Park and surrounding neighborhoods. This year, Chicago Industrial Arts & Design Center community member Janet Austin is one of the forty-two artist displaying large-scale sculptural works in the exhibit.
Inspired by the great blue heron, Waterbird is nine feet tall and six and a half feet wide, composed of powder coated steel. The work is located at 1858 North Mohawk Street, Chicago and will be on display, publicly accessible 24/7 through May 2017.
